Our family usually doesn't go to the cemetery to visit our departed loved ones. But of course, this doesn't mean we neglect them. I haven't asked my parents why we don't have this tradition that other families have but I guess it all boils down to financial reasons. What we do, though, as a way of commemorating is that we lit candles during the night and pray over silently.
To Lola Faty, Tito Rudy, my cousin, and to all those who had to leave this world unexpectedly, I wish and pray for the eternal repose of your souls. And for those who are still living, I hope we all understand the true meaning and importance of life.
Below is a photo of Lola Faty (October 22, 1916-July 9, 2011). It was taken last 2010 during her 94th birthday.
